Harvard Salon

Harvard Salon strives to create discussion and debate on topics of interest to the Club's members. Held on a quarterly basis, the Salon hosts an authority in a particular field who directs the discussion and moderates interactive participation. Salons cover a wide spectrum of topics in fields including society, the arts, the sciences, the social sciences and technology.

Monthly Luncheon

Monthly lunches are held at restaurants in Abu Dhabi and Dubai as a chance for Club members to catch up with each other and meet new members. Often a local leader or dignitary is invited to join for a topical discussion.

Annual Suhour

The Annual Suhour is one of our most popular events, with members and their partners/spouses coming together in the celebratory atmosphere of a Ramadan Suhour "tent".  It is often scheduled to coincide with a Harvard Global Networking Night. Extra food from the Suhour is donated to service staff.

Events with Other Alumni Clubs

Harvard Club of the UAE is actively involved in, and invites its members to, several events involving other university alumni clubs, including the Joint Alumni Iftar during Ramadan and the Ivy League Alumni dinner, which in recent years has been a dinner-plus-boat cruise during the festive end-of-year season in Dubai.

Occasional Social Events

On an ad-hoc basis, the Club organises informal social gatherings for its members to catch up over snacks and beverages on weekday evenings after work hours.

Admissions Outreach to Schools

In 2012, volunteers from the Harvard Club UAE developed a seminar on the U.S. university application process that has since reached hundreds of UAE high school students at high schools representing a broad range of curriculum types.  This seminar is particularly valuable to students and parents who may be unfamiliar with the unique admissions approach taken by many American universities and dedicates special attention to essay writing, the selection of recommenders, and approaching the admissions interview.  Though the presentation is led by local alumni of Harvard University and frequently draws on Harvard examples, it is specifically designed to discuss the U.S. university application process as a whole; it is not intended merely for those interested in applying to Harvard.

Harvard Book Prize

The Harvard Book Prize is awarded to an outstanding Grade 11 student in recognition of their scholastic and personal achievements by an alumni of Harvard University. The award has been in existence since 1910 and Prize Books are presented annually in more than 1,900 high schools around the world to outstanding students in their Junior year who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and achievement in non-academic areas. Currently, the Harvard Book Prize is presented in 8 schools in Dubai.
